  • Kathy Williams says:

Are there scientology services where perisherners gather, similarly to a weekly church service, or is it that everyone is working on their individual paths and levels?

    • Mike Rinder says:

There is a thing they call Sunday Service, but it’s really just for show — to appear “religious”

    • Kate says:

I don’t understand why Sea Org members aren’t allowed to have children. Isn’t Scientology cutting its nose off to spite its face? No children being born into Scientology means decreased new members as children are much more naive than adults and unable to see beyond their immediate reality and what they are told.
I guess this is actually a good thing for the public as the older scientologists will die off and then membership will be very very low. Is this accurate?

    Hi,

I love the podcast, and I am rewatching Fair Game on Netflix. It will be my 4th time watching the series. I have so many questions on how and why Scientology is recognized as a religion. I do not see how this is possible. According to my research, Scientology is not an officially recognized religion. If this is the case, it cannot hide behind its religion to justify the violence and harassment committed by members and hired help in defense of their “faith.” As a religion, aren’t they subject to federal audit to ensure their tax-exempt status? What about labor laws? How can Scientology give a Sea Org member a “freeloader” bill if there is no employment agreement? There is some employment agreement, it seems, and if that is the cause, isn’t there a violation of labor laws? How can we get federal officials to start questioning David Miscavige? Is there any federal agent (maybe retired) willing to come on the podcast and state what exactly is needed to get stop this madness? Thank you for all your work on bringing these stories to light.

Hey Mike, hey Leah. This was a great interview with Claire. She’s such an amazing woman! We learned a lot more this week I feel…things we never knew before. Keep up the good work guys!

PS – Are we not gonna talk about the Aussie series not airing?? I mean I know you have talked about it and Stevo mentioned it when he was on a couple months ago (that a great episode too!)… buuuuut I feel like your loyal fans all really want to know what went on and what was going to be revealed in that series. No bootleggers out there willing to share haha? 😀

  • Sydney says:

Hi Mike and Leah. I was looking up different people you’ve talked about and am a little confused. Is Marty Rathbun back in Scientology? I was reading a recent blog post of his and was caught off guard because I thought he left. If he is back in Scientology, how is he going to be treated by Miscavige for speaking out in Going Clear? Why would he even want to go back knowing what punishments and treatments await him?

Just listened to the Claire Headley podcast and she told the story of the young woman who committed suicide. Does Scientology hold life insurance policies on their members and if so, is it in their best interest to lie about the cause of death? Is there potential insurance fraud?

  • Ian Heard says:

Two quick questions for you two.
    1. Amazon has an primal series called The Boys. Season 2 features a thinly veiled parody of Scientology called the Church of the Collective. Have you seen it?
    2. Concerning freeloader debts, does Scientology actually have legal recourse to collect that money from former members?

Thank you so much! Keep up the good work!

She may be able to help you guys.
So much ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ and light to you guys. Your podcast and shows are everything. I’m not nor have I been a scientologist .. but listening to everything you went/ going through is a true testimony. Again… Much ❤️❤️❤️❤️

  • Adam says:

Can you guys tell the story of the “We Stand Tall” music video on the show? I know it’s tied in with achieving tax exempt status, but I bet hearing about the video itself would be a good laugh. However, knowing Scientology, I’m guessing there’s a dark side to the story as well.

  • Summer says:

I’m not sure if it’s just my device or Spotify, but this week’s podcast kept skipping and glitching :/

I’ve been loving the podcast so far, and Claire and Mark’s story amazes me every time I hear it. I’m so grateful for all of you survivors continuing to speak out against this abusive organisation.

  • Lisa says:

Hey guys, I love your podcasts! I’m in Niagara Falls Canada and in this country our government does not recognize the Church of Scientology as a religious entity for tax purposes.
Although I think they are trying and there are some Scientologists around. I wanted to ask if Going Clear will be coming to Netflix Canada at anytime? Thanks for doing what you do.
It’s really hard to imagine anyone involved in cults, but I find it very interesting and I think the main reason for me this is all so interesting is how they get away with it all for so long!

  • Andy says:

    Hello Mike and Leah,

I noticed (and have for some time) that the phrase “exactly right” features heavily in Mike’s speech. I noticed that it was also a notable feature of the guest’s phrases. Is the phrase something that is drilled into sea org members or just a coincidence?

  • Laura says:

    Hi Leah and Mike,

I’ve watched both the show and have been listening to the podcast for the past couple months. Both have been so informative. When the Sea Org members say they “work” all day, what does that mean? For a non high ranking member does the day just consist of auditing and classes?

Thank you for all of your work.

  • Teri Faucette says:

I’ve just recently found your podcast and I’m listening from the beginning. First of all, God bless you, Leah and Mike, for putting yourselves in the front lines for such a worthy cause!
Listening to this episode, and Claire recounting her receipt of the “freeloader bill”, it occurred to me that when these bills are received, they should calculate the hours the person worked at the hourly rate they SHOULD have been paid comparable to that job on the outside at the time the jobs were performed, then subtract what they actually were paid, then subtract the remainder from the freeloader bill, sending all the data back with the bill, showing the resulting sum that THEY owe that person. It won’t really accomplish much, but it would make a point, especially if everyone that gets these bills does this.
